General Description of the Role
We are seeking a smart, experienced, and self-motivated attorney to serve as an in-house partner to Campari's commercial/sales, channel marketing, and brand marketing teams, providing day-to-day legal counsel across a broad portfolio of alcoholic beverages. In addition to commercial support, the attorney will be the owner of a compliance portfolio spanning data privacy, antitrust, anti-corruption, and trade practices, ensuring the Company operates with integrity and manages risk proactively. The ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of legal rigor and commercial pragmatism, is comfortable advising senior stakeholders under deadline, and brings genuine enthusiasm for the distilled spirits industry.
Key Responsibilities and Activities
- Serve as the legal lead of Campari’s compliance program in the US with a focus on the following pillars:
- Anti-Corruption & Ethics
- Antitrust & Competition law
- Data Privacy and Information Security
- Trade Practices & Regulatory Compliance
- Support the Sales, Marketing, and Channel & Customer Marketing teams for most of their legal needs, providing day-to-day advice on a wide variety of topics.
- Advise on federal and state alcohol beverage laws (TTB and state ABC regulations), tied-house restrictions, and three-tier compliance across all channels.
- Review and advise on marketing materials, campaigns, claims, promotions (on-premise, off-premise, and digital), point-of-sale materials, sampling programs, activations, and event sponsorships.
- Advise and train personnel on four compliance pillars, plus advertising and marketing compliance, including FTC endorsement guidelines, social media and influencer regulations, responsible marketing standards, and alcohol advertising codes (e.g., DISCUS Code).
- Review, draft, and negotiate various contracts, including for marketing services, sponsorships, software-as-a-service (SaaS), ecommerce, talent and influencer endorsements, joint promotions, vendor services, professional and consulting services, etc.
- Research and keep abreast of changing legal and policy issues concerning the alcohol beverage industry, as well as general in-house issues such as advertising, social and digital media, amongst other topics.
- Support General Counsel on various internal and external projects and initiatives, including providing trainings to internal stakeholders.
Key Relationships
Internal: Marketing, Channel & Customer Marketing, Sales personnel, as well as Legal & Compliance colleagues based in Italy Headquarters
External: Marketing agencies, vendors, and outside counsel
Experience Required
- At least 6 years of legal experience, with at least 2 years in-house at a consumer goods company.
- Hands-on experience in at least two of the following compliance areas: data privacy, antitrust, anti-corruption, or trade practices.
Education / Professional Qualifications
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
- Spanish fluency a plus

- Able to be regularly present at the office location at least three days/week.
- Necessary business travel estimated at 5-10%.
The expected base salary for this position ranges from $163,000-217,300. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors and considerations. In addition to base salary and a generous employee benefits package, employees are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
