National Account Manager – Cash & Carry Wholesale: London & Midlands Independents
The Opportunity
We are seeking a commercially focused National Account Manager to lead the management and growth of a portfolio of key independent customers within our Wholesale Cash & Carry channel.
Reporting into the Channel Head, this role will play a key part in delivering customer growth through strong execution, effective joint business planning, and collaborative cross‑functional working. You will be responsible for translating channel and brand strategy into compelling customer plans while delivering against volume, revenue, and profitability targets.
This is an excellent opportunity for a high‑performing account manager looking to strengthen their strategic capability and develop customer exposure within a leading FMCG business.
Key Responsibilities
Customer & Channel Execution
- Support the delivery of the Wholesale Cash & Carry strategy in line with brand and business objectives
- Build and execute customer plans that drive distribution, visibility, and rate of sale
- Use insights and data to identify growth opportunities and improve in‑store execution
Customer Management
- Manage strong working relationships with buying and operational contacts
- Support negotiations on trading terms, promotions, and activations in line with guidelines
- Deliver agreed customer plans on time and in full
Commercial Delivery
- Own Joint Business Plans for assigned accounts, ensuring delivery of volume, value, and margin targets
- Manage forecasting, budgeting, and performance tracking for your customers
- Ensure disciplined promotional evaluation and effective investment management
Category & Innovation
Work with Category and Marketing teams to deliver channel‑relevant activations and innovation. Support new product launches and distribution gains within your customer base
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Marketing, Finance, Customer Marketing, and Supply Chain to deliver integrated plans
Share customer insights internally to help shape broader channel and brand decisions
Candidate Profile
We’re looking for a high‑performing commercial account manager with the capability to deliver strategic impact across key national customers.
Essential Experience
- Experience operating as a National Account Manager or Account Manager within FMCG
- Exposure to Wholesale, Convenience, or Impulse channels is strongly preferred
- Experience delivering Joint Business Plans and managing customer forecasts
- Proven ability to deliver commercial targets through effective account execution
