The Commercial Finance Analyst will support Campari Canada’s growth objectives by providing in depth analytical support to the sales and trade marketing teams.  Fostering strong relationships with these business partners, the Analyst will guide the profitability, tracking, and financial management of these functions through the development and maintenance of reporting tools and by providing key business insights.

 

Key Responsibilities and Activities

 

Given the nature of the Company’s business and the market place, the business and/or jobs will evolve and change over time. Accordingly, the Company may add to or remove from the duties and responsibilities set out below as circumstances change. Current duties and responsibilities of the Commercial Finance Analyst include:

 

  • Manages the analysis of Provincial monthly depletion reports, synthesizing data from multiple sources. Provides analysis and interpretive commentary. Meets internal and external reporting deadlines
  • Leads the charge in developing a comprehensive trade promotion management tool in order to properly assess impact of promotional activity and ROI
  • Partners with the head of the sales organization to evaluate key opportunities/challenges by developing both standard and ad-hoc reporting
  • Identifies patterns and trends in trend data related to sales performance, competitive activity, and potential opportunities. Highlights and escalates with appropriate Sales, Marketing, and Finance business partners
  • Prepares market specific analysis and recommendations in support of improved profitability, utilizing competitive industry information
  • Provides analytic support to the Regional Managers and field sales to maximize profitable sales and assess the efficiency and effectiveness of deferred discount programs from design to execution; ensure programs are consistent with overall brand pricing strategy and budget allocation
  • Provides insights and analysis to drive initiatives designed to optimize distribution, shelving, and promotional mix for Campari brands
  • Acts as a trainer for all Sales data and analytical systems
  • Performs inventory analysis and evaluates opportunities/risks
  • Develops an understanding of the alcohol industry inclusive of the regulations, liquor boards, chain and other retail customers, on premise accounts and competitors
  • Contributes, when required, in situations, projects, and activities not included in other principal accountabilities to assist in the accomplishment of business objectives and personnel development

Experience Required

  • 3+ years of experience in commercial finance, sales reporting, FP&A, or related roles
  • Previous experience working with Consumer Packaged Goods/Alcoholic Beverage Industry preferred

 

Education / Professional Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Finance, Business, Mathematics or related field

 

Skills

Functional:

  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including GAAP & IFRS
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and provincial regulations
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to analyze financial or accounting data and prepare reports, statements and projections

 

Technical:

  • Familiarity with business intelligence software such as Power BI and SAP BOC
  • Ability to create “what if” models to assess impact of pricing and program opportunities
  • Experience in planning and managing new product launches
  • Experience in the utilization of pricing, forecasting and other sales tracking and monitoring tools
  • Ability to take large amounts of data and mine the key insights that are helpful in developing a compelling sales presentation
  • Sound understanding of business financials and experience in managing to a budget
