Role/Mission/Objectives

With a direct reporting line into the Global Proc SC & SG&A Director, the Global Logistics Category Manager leads strategic sourcing for the key logistics spend categories including primary ocean transport and warehouses, with potential expansion into secondary transport. The role will own a direct spend of €120M, with an additional €60M of influencing scope (total €180M).

This position will define and execute the global category strategy, drive performance across cost, service, sustainability, and operational excellence, and ensure strong collaboration with internal stakeholders and regional procurement teams.

As a member of the Global Indirect procurement team, the Logistics Category Manager is accountable to execute the strategic agenda structured around the related spend categories.

 

Key Responsibilities and Activities

 

  • Lead global strategic sourcing activities for logistics categories (primary ocean transport, warehousing; secondary transport at a later stage).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust category strategies and associated risk profiles in partnership with the Global Procurement SC & SG&A Director
  • Identify category opportunities across the Procurement Pillars (availability, profitability, sustainability and operational excellence), quantify business benefits, and prioritize initiatives
  • Partner with Business Stakeholders and Regional Procurement teams to gather input, align on strategies, and ensure deployment of global initiatives
  • Lead and coordinate cross‑functional teams, acting as Project Manager for major category initiatives.
  • Conduct global and regional market analysis to identify cost‑reduction, innovation, and supplier‑base opportunities.
  • Segment suppliers and develop tailored Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) strategies.
  • Lead global negotiations/contracts and manage relationships with strategic suppliers.
  • Optimize category efficiency through implementing suppliers, product & process standardization and automation in close alignment with Global Procurement Center Of Excellence
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, internal policies, and evolving market standards
  • Monitor and report performance through category KPIs and dashboards.

Experience & Education & Skills

 

  • 7+ years of experience in Procurement, Supply Chain or Logistics, preferably in multinational environments
  • Proven track record in category management and global strategic sourcing
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management capabilities
  • Experience managing high‑value spend categories
  • Ability to lead cross‑functional teams and complex international projects
  • Familiar with cross-cultural environment and cross-countries collaboration in a matrix organizational context
  • Master Degree in Engineering or Administration
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus
  • Communication, and stakeholder‑management skills
  • Strong analytical skills coupled with a data driven approach
