Role Context and Mission
The Global IT Manager - SAP Platform Architect is responsible for defining and implementing the enterprise-level SAP architecture and driving technological innovation. This role ensures end-to-end governance of SAP technology strategy and decisions, aligning them with business goals.
The Architect will lead continuous improvements across the global SAP applications and technology portfolio, coordinate major cross-domain IT programs, and ensure the quality and consistency of end-to-end solutions.
This global role involves close collaboration with Global and Regional IT Leaders, as well as other domain architects. It requires strong technical expertise, strategic vision, and the ability to influence and lead architectural decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and steer SAP platform architecture decisions across business, application, and technology domains.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT leaders to align SAP architecture evolution with strategic goals.
- Establish and promote enterprise-wide architecture principles and standards within SAP platform.
- Support the design and evolution of the SAP platform in line with business priorities.
- Foster a cross-technology architecture community and act as an innovation evangelist for SAP technologies and best practices.
- Map the SAP technology landscape, including systems and applications, and how they support business capabilities.
Experience & Education
- 10+ years of experience in IT, with proven leadership in complex SAP platform architecture roles and projects.
- Experience working in international, multicultural, and geographically dispersed teams.
- Deep expertise in SAP platform (technical & security) architecture.
- Strong knowledge of Azure and RISE, including IaaS and network topics.
- Familiarity with modern SAP capabilities: SAP BTP, C-ALM, SAC, Datasphere, native cloud solutions, etc.
- Broad understanding of IT strategies, innovation trends, and best practices.
- Preferred experience in Consumer Goods industries and related business processes.
- Strong grasp of business strategy and technology needs in a global Consumer Goods environment.
- Knowledge of system development life cycles (waterfall, agile, activate, or hybrid), IT service management, infrastructure, and operations.
- Familiarity with modern IT concepts: SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, SOA, APIs, open data, microservices, event-driven IT, and predictive analytics.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering or a related field; MSc in Computer Science or MBA preferred.
- Prior experience as an internal platform architect in a major international company.
Certifications
- SAP certification in SAP technological architecture (must have)
- Azure certifications (nice to have)
- TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification (nice to have)
