General Description of the Role

The Business Development Intern is part of the Business Development / M&A team and reports to the Business Development Manager

 

Mission/Objectives

The mission of the role is to contribute to the execution of the external growth strategy, as well as support the team in the development of new business activities at global level such as joint ventures.

 

Key Responsibilities & Activities

Provide relevant support to the Business Development / M&A team in the context of Mergers & Acquisitions operations:

    • Participates in identifying and evaluating new business opportunities including new markets, customers, products, categories, and route to market, either through acquisitions or partnerships

    • Searches for potential acquisition targets

    • Support the team in the preparation of financial evaluations/drafting of business plans in collaboration with Finance to guide decision making in terms of acquisitions

    • Support in the due diligence phase

    • Support the coordination of external legal counsels as well as internal stakeholders

    • and collaborates with colleagues of other functions to ensure excellence in the delivery

 

Key Relationships

Internal: members of the Business Development / M&A or Legal team; Finance; M&A integration cross-functional team on a project basis; members of other Group Functions on a project basis.

External: legal and financial consultants involved in M&A activities on a project basis, management teams of target businesses

 

Experience, Education & Personal Traits

  • Final year in a Business Administration degree with major in Corporate Finance (minor in Law constitutes a plus), alternatively Law Degree with Master in Business Administration or other strong finance qualifications

  • Previous internship experience in Business Development / M&A activities at international level within transaction services advisory, multinational corporate environments, investment banking or private equity funds experience is considered a plus

  • Proven previous experience in M&A deals is considered a plus

  • Genuine interest in corporate finance with good commercial awareness

  • Basic accounting and financial knowledge (financial statements)

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Fluency in English is a must

  • Knowledge of an additional language is considered a plus

  • Good computer skills including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)

  • International mindset and cross-cultural working attitude

  • Hands on approach, hardworking, eager to learn

  • Attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks while ensuring timely delivery
