General Description of the Role

 

This position is responsible to manage and implement safety, environmental and hygiene systems that maximize the benefits and competitive advantages while ensuring the safety and health of workers, as well as legal compliance with environmental standards and plant safety.

 

Mission/Objectives

 

The HSE Specialist mission is to:

 

  • Assure that office and plant activities are developed in a safety environment.
  • Guarantee that our operations are developed accordingly with the government regulations.
  • Analize and promover actions that protect our environment, avoiding pollution with our productive activities.

 

 

Key Responsibilities and Activities

 

  • Coordinate, support and work closely with all plant departments ensuring that QHSE Management
  • Coordinate and carry out periodic security inspections.
  • Carry out periodic assessments of the security risks of both personnel and facilities.
  • Participate in the monitoring and reporting of all local-based energy, water and waste compliance activities.
  • Evaluate best environmental practices and make recommendations that boost competitive advantage and / or improve performance through the capital budgeting process.
  • Control of hazardous waste management and special handling
  • Control of composting within the facilities
  • Review and inspect the industrial and property security systems that protect the company from losses
  • Select personnel for brigades.
  • Train and train the personnel that forms the brigades.
  • Implement and manage security programs throughout the site, ensure effective safety and hygiene practices, manage risks and control risks.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and the prioritization of security activities through the identification of risks and the evaluation of existing potential risks.
  • Evaluate behavioral and analytical work risks;
  • Manage all environmental sustainability projects through the plant
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and prioritization of safety and environmental sustainability programs through the identification of potential risks, as well as the mandates of regulatory compliance and the evaluation of existing risks.
  • Implement and facilitate safety programs to adequately train all plant personnel.
  • Overseeing environmental performance of manufacturing site, covering energy, CO2, water, wastewater, waste, compliance, pollution risk control
  • Developing and implementing environmental action plan that is aligned with global company targets and local materiality, with co-initiating local projects and supporting global projects from central teams
  • Coordinating all aspects of pollution control, emission monitoring, waste management
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, including keeping the operational permits up to date and relevant and ensuring the new capital projects have accountability of environmental authorizations and subsequent integration into factory permits
  • Analyzing and reporting environmental performance, including energy and water analytics, animating communication and corrective/preventative actions in production team
  • Managing environmental ISO systems if in place
  • Training staff at all levels in environmental issues and responsibilities
  • Negotiating environmental service agreements and managing associated costs
  • Managing external contacts with competent authorities, external mandatory reporting, representing the subject matter knowledge during authority inspections and interventions

Internal: Plant Manager, HR, Arandas plant areas, Quality, Maintenance

External: Suppliers, Maintenance Contractors, Government entities for regulations .

 

Experience Required

 

Minimum 7 years of experience in security programs in manufacturing companies and preferably in the manufacture of alcoholic beverages.

 

Education / Professional Qualifications

 

  • Preferred education BSc/MSc degree in environmental subject such as biosciences, environmental engineering, environmental sciences or ecology
