General Description of the Role
This position is responsible for managing and implementing safety, environmental and hygiene systems that maximize the benefits and competitive advantages while ensuring the safety and health of workers, as well as legal compliance and safety and environmental standards.
Mission/Objectives
The HSE Coordinator mission is to:
- Ensure execution of the annual plan for legal, corporate requirements and internal standards.
- Ensure closing actions on time for HAZOPS, Risk assessments and root cause analysis.
- HSE coach to coordinators and supervisors to ensure the best practices and risk control.
Key Responsibilities and Activities
- Apply safety standards daily in their areas of responsibility.
- Make risk analysis in operational areas, update procedures and suggest improvements.
- Supervise and authorize risky activities for contractors and maintenance y make sure are performed under safety procedures and standards.
- Supervise and authorize high-risk activities carried out by contractors and maintenance personnel, ensuring they are conducted in compliance with established safety procedures and standards.
- Keep tracking of corrective and preventive actions and manage meetings to ensure progress.
- Follow up actions for HAZOPs, Risk Assessment, incident investigations and document the evidence.
- Budget execution for areas under his/her responsibility.
- Coordinates brigade personnel practices and trainings.
- Evaluate behavioral and analytical work risks.
- Incident y behavioral trend analysis.
- Coaching safety walks with coordinators and supervisors to improve risk perception y best practices.
- Train operational personnel to ensure knowledge of risk-based thinking and safety practices.
- Supervise inspection and maintenance of emergency response equipment.
- Documental control for Contractors and suppliers.
- Manage the annual HSE programs and evidence of compliance.
- Participate actively on operational daily meetings.
Key Relationships
- Internal: Plant Director, Process, HR, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, Security.
- External: Suppliers, Maintenance Contractors, Government entities for regulations.
Experience Required
- Minimum 3 years of experience managing safety and health programs in manufacturing companies, contractors supervising, monitoring, and implementing requirements of norms and regulations.
- Safety based on behavior (desirable)
- Management systems like ISO 9001, ISO14001 or ISO45000 (desirable)
Education / Professional Qualifications
- Industrial engineering, Quality system engineering or related field.
