Role Overview
The Production technician will work primarily in distillery operations (milling, mashing, fermentation, distillation) and will migrate to other areas as required. They will also have the capability and flexibility to run each piece of equipment at the bottling hall facility.
Key Responsibilities and Activities
- Monitor/Understand automated system (SCADA screens) through computers and gauges to oversee and adjust the process accordingly.
- Operate malt handling, milling, mashing, yeast transfers, fermentation, distillation and bottling activities.
- Operate utility systems including but not limited to boiler, chillers, cooling tower
- Operate bottling line machinery during bottling campaigns
- Inspect and clean dust collection system
- Maintain good housekeeping practices and ensure equipment is clean and areas are organized at all times
- Conduct steam sterilization/sanitation of lines and equipment
- Follow and maintain all SOP's.
- Follow all safety precautions and related OSHA requirements.
- Understand process flows and equipment (pumps, agitators, valves, instruments, etc)
- Perform normal and emergency startup/shutdown of all equipment.
- Complete all distillery duties as directed by Supervisor.
- Adheres to our business standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Key Requirements
- Ability to work in a team environment focusing on continuous improvement opportunities.
- Ability to be flexible in duties and schedule - Overtime may be required, holiday work and weekends.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Attention to detail
- Previous distillation/manufacturing experience preferred
- 18 years or older
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
