- General Description of the Role
The position provides supervisory leadership of the daily operations for the Raw Materials Inventory (RMI) and materials inbound processes which delivers and warehouse raw materials in a safe, efficient, accurate and timely manner based on the established metrics and in accordance with planning and production expectations.
- Operating Context
Campari’s business in Jamaica is an integrated operation, beginning with the production of the distillate, blending, bottling and ending with the sale and distribution of the finished product for local and export markets. This makes it one of the most diverse and complex entities within the Campari Group.
The Raw Materials Inventory Department has overall responsibility for managing the Packaging and Raw Materials Inventory. The warehousing functions, supervised by the Team Leader and under the guidance of the RMI Manager, controls all system, documentation, inventory management and materials receiving and issuing activities. The function has a significant impact on the profitability of the business in areas such as cash flow, cost and customer satisfaction.

The mission of the position is to effectively manage the Customs clearance, Warehousing Processes and the Raw Materials inventory to support cost reduction in all areas managed, minimize stock loss and inventory anomalies in addition to increasing customer satisfaction by ensuring scheduled production.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Strategy – Planning
- Contributes to the development of the RMI Team strategies and KPIs for all related activities in alignment with the overall Logistics Department strategies.
- Develops effective work processes to guide the proper and efficient functioning of the Warehouse Specialists, Coordinators, the contractors and the inventory management operations.
- Prepares annual objectives and action plans for the Inbound and raw materials processes.
- Logistics Operations
- Directs and supervises all inventory management processes – to include Goods Receipts/Transfers/ Issue, Stock Counts, FIFO, SLED, WM Processes, Storage Policies and OTIF goods issue postings.
- Plans and organizes workday to ensure all material related activities are processed On Time and In Full with minimal avoidable losses and cost over runs.
- Liases with the Engineering Department when necessary in the event of problems causing downtime and report to the Manager where problems are recurring.
- Ensures that Forklift Checklists are completed by contractor weekly and submitted to the Engineering Department.
- Plans and ensure the timely execution of customs clearance activities.
- Ensures materials related system transactions are created, processed and posted based on the agreed metrics.
- Coordinates the inflow of containers from the port for offloading to ensure related costs are minimized.
- Makes sure team provides timely feedback to the Quality, Production and/or Planning Teams regarding receiving and material movement challenges/issues.
- Applies a consistent and proactive approach for strengthening and maintaining the RMI Department relationships with its Internal and External Partners.
- Develops and maintains relationships with Haulage Partners, 3rd Party Logistics provider and Tax Administration Jamaica - Excise to be able to leverage same when needed.
- Liaises with relevant departments on matters pertaining to adjustments to goods receipts, stock issues and production schedules.
- Prepares reports of customs clearance and RMI raw materials related activities.
- Identifies opportunities for cost reduction, improved efficiency and higher levels of internal customer satisfaction.
- Service Delivery
- Supports internal customer service activities including interface with planning, production, labs, and quality so that the company’s operational effectiveness creates a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
- Contributes to the development of service delivery systems and culture which is efficient and effective in addressing and resolving external and internal customer issues.
- Monitors the turnaround time, accuracy and efficiency of delivery of materials to production, inventory management and receiving of materials in accordance with the department’s standards.
- EHS Stewardship
- Observes and maintains strict adherence to established Quality, Health, Food Safety, Safety and Environmental policies and practices.
- Monitors the implementation and adherence to safety measures and programs in conjunction with the Quality, Food safety and EHS Teams and in keeping with the company’s policies.
- People –Leadership
- Drives the performance of the team by cascading the Logistics Departmental objectives, defining personal performance targets and appraising the performance of direct reports during and at the end of the performance management cycle.
- Builds the capacity of direct reports and the team through consistent performance feedback and coaching.
- Collaborates with the RMI Manager, other Team Leaders and the HR Business Partner to identify and implement learning and development initiatives to close competency gaps within the team.
- Provides leadership in the building of a culture within the department which exemplifies the “Campari Way” of doing business.
- Provides Visible Safety Leadership that will help develop a safety culture within the organization.
- Leads the team in a way that will create the environment for a positive employee experience.
- Compliance
- Tracks the compliance of the operations with relevant legal and statutory requirements and procedures.
- Monitors the establishment of efficient work processes and reviews these processes, as necessary, with a view to achieving continuous improvement.
- Performs any other related duties within job scope.
