General Description of the Role

The Wilderness Trail - Private Barrel Client Manager is responsible for building, growing, managing, and expanding the Private Barrel program at Wilderness Trail Distillery. This role will partner with the US Sales team to create targeted account lists along with establishing direct connections with individuals (retailers, buyers, owners) to drive education and sales of Wilderness Trail private barrels. 

This position will work with supply chain/operations team to select and sample barrels, the Wilderness Trail Barrel Warehousing team to schedule dumping and packaging of product, partner with US Sales and Customer Service teams to process orders and collaborate with the Planning team to control inventory in company database.  

 

Mission/Objectives

The Wilderness Trail - Private Barrel Client Manager will further strengthen the private barrel program capabilities accelerating customer demand and sales of Wilderness Trail private barrels.

 

Key Responsibilities and Activities

 

  • Acts as the program lead for the Wilderness Trail Private Barrel program – developing the strategy, key account lists and driving sales. 
  • Partners with the US Sales team to compile lists of critical accounts in markets to target for private barrel sales. 
  • Visits targeted accounts and works with buyers/owners to educate, sample, and schedule visits to the distillery to pick barrels and help boost private barrel sales. 
  • Coordinates the collection of samples from the Wilderness Trail Warehouse Department and sends samples to sales team and customers when requested.
  • Builds appropriate investment and return goals and plans both in annual and 3 year time horizons.
  • Partners with Wilderness Trail Warehouse team to identify and track barrels for sale.
  • Partners with the Wilderness Trail Visitor Center team for onsite customer tasting selections and assist the VC in special selections of barrels for exclusive barrel releases.
  • Provides continuous improvement to the private barrel program to grow increasing private barrel sales.
  • Manage full route to market, including barrel order placement.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Education
    • Bachelor’s degree is preferred or relevant experience

 

  1. Experience
    • >5 years’ spirits industry experience in successfully closing sales of private barrels
    • Minimum 2+ years of experience in 1-1 consumer relationship management of private barrel connoisseurs 
    • Experienced in producing consumer experiences for private barrel purchases
    • 5+ years in Alc Bev sales (preferred not mandatory) 

 

  1. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
    • Ability to build, nurture and grow relationships with potential customers 
    • Skilled at delivering a high-level of customer service, anticipating customer needs and exceeding expectations. 
    • A strong sales-closer with the proven ability to convert leads into purchasers.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills required - confident and highly engaging when presenting to both small and large groups.
    • Ability to manage spending budgets and spending plans.
    • Proven ability to be extremely thorough and detail oriented.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of the bourbon industry and private barrel processes.
    • Collaborative work ethic, especially across department lines at all levels in plant operations and sales
    • Working knowledge of selling spirits within the US Three-Tier System 

 

Job Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 70% of the time
  • Potentially some lifting and physical work at events or in the warehouse
  • Occasional nights and weekends in the trade or at events
  • English language fluent
