General Description of the Role

Campari is seeking a smart, self-motivated Senior Marketing Paralegal who is willing to hit the ground running and learn more about a unique industry – the alcohol beverage world. While some of our challenges are the same as every other consumer products company, we work within a historically unique regulatory framework, the 21st Amendment. Specific alcohol experience is not necessary if you come with a desire and ability to learn quickly. The Senior Marketing Paralegal is a valued support role in the legal department reporting to the General Counsel, House of Whiskey and Rum, House of Agave, Americas & APAC.

 

The Senior Marketing Paralegal will be responsible for: supporting Campari’s marketing teams in reviewing marketing assets and materials (including but not limited to social media visuals and copy, press releases, and ad campaigns); reviewing (and potentially negotiating) marketing services agreements and other contracts standard to the consumer products industry; and legal research. The role is located in Campari America’s Midtown Manhattan office and Campari follows a flexible hybrid work schedule with three (3) days in the office and two (2) days remote.

 

Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the organization.  A successful candidate must also be a team player, proactive, able to prioritize effectively, and provide support for any general duties and projects.  We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize multiple high-importance activities, driving results with a strong sense of urgency.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support to the marketing teams on advertising, promotions, and marketing campaigns.

  • Review marketing materials, including print and digital content, to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and industry standards.

  • Review contracts related to marketing activities, including but not limited to marketing services agreements and schedules, confidentiality agreements, sponsorship agreements, influencer contracts, and vendor agreements.

  • Assist the legal department in developing and implementing legal marketing policies and procedures, maintaining corporate governance materials, and other ad hoc requests

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales and finance, to provide legal guidance and support.

  • Consolidate, coordinate, and execute projects with multiple details, timelines, and participating stakeholders.

  • Communicate effectively with key stakeholders

  • Conduct legal research on marketing and advertising laws, regulations, and industry best practices.

  • Stay updated on changes in marketing and advertising laws and regulations and communicate relevant updates to the legal department and marketing and sales teams.

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Juris Doctor degree or paralegal certificate from an accredited institution a plus

  • Minimum of 5-10 years of paralegal or legal experience required; experience in a law firm or corporate legal department at an alcohol beverage or consumer product goods company a plus

  • Experience reviewing and negotiating contracts

  • Mastery of Microsoft Office tools; working knowledge of legal research tools, technology and applications a plus

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Accuracy and keen attention to detail, but still comfortable with ambiguity.

  • Ability to use sound judgment and pragmatic approaches to anticipate issues and/or resolve project roadblocks in an effective, efficient, compliant and common-sense manner

  • Excellent and accurate research, writing, and analytical skills coupled with an ability to communicate clearly and concisely with junior and senior professionals.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively, cooperatively, and professionally with a variety of people.

  • High degree of professional ethics, integrity, and gravitas.

  • High degree of sensitivity regarding confidential information

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-changing and demanding environment.

  • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of another language is a plus.

  • Notary Public qualification is a plus.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $102,200-125,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors and considerations. In addition to a base salary and a generous employee benefits package, employees may be eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
