Key Responsibilities and Activities

  • Act as a vital liaison with Sales teams to shape and influence commercial strategy shifts, including deal structures and promotional tactics, by developing compelling recommendations and analyzing outcomes to continually refine approaches.
  • Assess and optimize commercial terms for promotions and quantity-based agreements, strategically evaluating profitability for manufacturers, distributors, and retailers while mitigating margin leakage and inefficiencies.
  • Lead initiatives to refine deal structures and manage deferred discounts across the states in the West region, streamlining agreements to enhance financial performance and operational effectiveness.
  • Partner closely with State Sales Managers to scrutinize promotional plans and funding mechanisms, ensuring thorough and accurate documentation of trade terms within internal systems to maintain transparency and compliance.
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses of sales volumes under various deal structures to detect margin shifts across the value chain and formulate actionable recommendations that bolster financial outcomes and stakeholder alignment.
  • Monitor and enforce promotional investment allocations for budget adherence, critically assessing the return on investment (ROI) to ensure resource usage drives maximum commercial impact.
  • Benchmark promotional spending and investment strategies against competitive standards to align our efforts with market dynamics and evolving industry best practices.
  • Design, deliver, and present comprehensive pre- and post-event analyses using advanced dashboards, providing insightful feedback to leadership and field teams that directly inform future commercial strategy.
  • Champion profitability by optimizing product mix across brands, categories, and packaging, encouraging trade-up opportunities towards higher-margin products that cater to consumer preferences and customer requirements.
  • Define each brand’s market positioning within its category by balancing affordability and premiumization strategies relative to competitors, always aligning decisions with P&L objectives while preserving consumer value and satisfaction.

Education and Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Marketing, Business Administration, or a closely related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience analyzing commercial structures, trade agreements, and P&L performance, with expertise in profitability assessment and financial optimization. Experience in Category Development or market research is highly preferred.
  • Proven capability in building robust analytical models, managing large and complex data sets, and synthesizing meaningful insights through advanced data manipulation combined with exceptional problem-solving abilities.
  • At least 5 years of experience within the consumer products sector is strongly preferred, with background in Beverage Alcohol and 3-Tier Distribution networks considered an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint, alongside Power BI for data visualization, is essential. Experience with SQL, Python, and SAP is a strong plus.
  • A solid gross profit mindset, commercial P&L expertise, and experience with breakeven analysis are crucial to thriving in this role.
