General Description of the Role

Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with all tax-related obligations for Campari India  operating across all Indian states. This includes managing direct and indirect taxes, GST compliance, inter-state tax implications, and state-specific excise duties. The role requires close coordination with internal departments and external regulatory bodies to ensure timely filings, audits, and close coordination with Regional Tax group.

 

Mission/Objectives 

Ensure that the company complies with the taxation regulatory laws, also responsible for the management of documents to establish accounting controls and submit of tax reports to Corporate.

 

Key Responsibilities and Activities

 

1. Direct Taxation:

  • Manage computation, payment, and filing of corporate income tax and advance tax, including validation of our tax consultant.
  • Handle tax audits, scrutiny assessments, and appeals.
  • Coordinate Transfer Price coordination with Global and locally, including local adjustments. Transfer price statements & related reports to be presented to local authorities.
  • Monitor withholding tax (TDS) compliance and returns.

 

2. Indirect Taxation:

  • Oversee GST compliance including registration, return filing, and reconciliation.
  • Manage Input Tax Credit (ITC) optimization and dispute resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with IGST on inter-state transactions and stock transfers.
  • Coordinate with logistics and warehousing teams for e-way bill generation and documentation.

 

3. Excise Duty & State Levies:

  • Ensure compliance with State Excise Laws applicable to the manufacture, storage, and distribution of alcoholic beverages.
  • Liaise with State Excise Departments for licenses, permits, and renewals.
  • Monitor and manage excise duty payments, documentation, and audits.
  • Stay updated on state-specific changes in excise policies and pricing regulations.

 

4. Inter-State Transactions (IST):

  • Manage tax implications of inter-state movement of goods, including branch transfers and consignment sales.
  • Ensure proper documentation and compliance with IGST and state-specific entry taxes (if applicable).
  • Coordinate with supply chain and legal teams to ensure tax-efficient distribution strategies.

 

5. Strategic Tax Planning & Advisory:

  • Evaluate tax impact of new business initiatives, contracts, and partnerships.
  • Provide an analysis on the impact that might have the changes of the tax regulatory framework.
  • Analyze and apply the best scenarios for the company and ellaborate tax planning that generates a better cash flow and reflects a benefit in both current and deferred net income.
  • Coordination of fiscal consultation with our specialized consultants.

 

6. Compliance & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date tax records and documentation.
  • Prepare periodic tax reports for internal stakeholders and auditors.
  • Support internal and statutory audits with required tax data and reconciliations.
  • Maintain Tax Portals for all states.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with payment in all taxes related to the company's transactions as stipulated by the tax authorities
  • Develop and elaborate the documents related to procedures and accounting controls to ensure the compliance to fiscal laws.
  • Deliver fiscal information during the audit of financial statements.
  • In charge of direct and attend requirements, audits and if applicable, defend the company position in fiscal terms.

 

Key relationships:

 

Internal: Finance Director, HR Director, Controller, FP&A, Treasury, Credit & Collection, SC Manager, Procurement Manager, Group Tax Manager, Internal Audit, CFO APAC.

Externnal: External audit, taxation governmental authorities, Consultants.

 

Required experience

7-10 years of experience.

 

Education / Professional Qualifications

Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent
