Job Overview - To manage and coordinate all import-related logistics activities for alcoholic beverages, ensuring timely and compliant movement of goods from international suppliers to bonded warehouses or final destinations in India. The role involves close coordination with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers (CHA), internal teams, and regulatory bodies to ensure seamless import operations while adhering to legal and statutory requirements such as FSSAI, Customs, and Excise.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Import Operations Management:
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor all import shipments from origin to destination.
- Handle end-to-end import documentation, including Invoice, Packing List, COO, Bill of Lading and Bill of Entry.
- Ensure timely filing of Bill of Entry (BOE), customs clearance and FSSAI Clearance.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders and shipping lines for booking, scheduling, and tracking of shipments.
- Ensure compliance with bonded warehouse protocols, including in-bonding, breakage/shortage declarations, and stock removals.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure import activities comply with Customs, FSSAI, Excise, DGFT, and other government regulations.
- Work with CHAs to manage port formalities and facilitate smooth customs clearance.
- Oversee the FSSAI processes such as application submission, sampling and acquiring FSSAI NOC and Test Report.
Inventory & Warehouse Coordination:
- Liaise with bonded warehouses for receipt, inspection, and storage of imported goods.
- Manage inventory reconciliations for bonded stocks.
- Manage and Monitor Internal Stock Transfer with in the warehouse
Stakeholder Coordination:
- Interface with internal departments like Demand and Supply, Finance, Commercial for logistics operations.
- Manage vendor and supplier relationships to ensure alignment on timelines and documentation.
Cost Control & Documentation:
- Monitor and control import logistics costs including freight, duty, warehousing, and clearing charges.
- Maintain accurate records and timely submission of import-related documents for audits and returns (e.g., Annual Return filing for FSSAI Central License, EPR Plastic Waste, Continuity Bond Extension etc.).
Key Relationships:
Internal: Marketing, Operations, Commercial, Finance, Procurement, Legal, Global Quality
External: Customs, Excise, Vendors and Suppliers, Gov Agencies, FSSAI, Freight Forwarders
Experience Required
- Strong understanding of international logistics, INCO terms, bonded warehousing, and customs procedures.
- Familiarity with alcoholic beverage regulations and documentation requirements (COO, Excise, FSSAI, etc.).
- Excellent coordination, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and MS Office.
- Experience managing large cross functional commercial projects desirable
- Ability to network and build strong relationships
- Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferrable in International Business, or a related field.
- 8–10 years of experience in import logistics, preferably in the alcoholic beverages, FMCG, or related sector.
- Experience dealing with bonded warehouses and CHA operations is a must
