Role Overview

 

Campari Group is looking for an Off Trade Category Manager to join the Business Intelligence team based in London, United Kingdom.

 

As an Off Trade Category Manager at Campari UK, you’ll work in partnership with the Category & Insight Controller and Grocery, Convenience and Ecom sales team to deliver actionable insight and recommendations to the business and our partners, to help realise Campari’s growth ambitions within the UK. The role includes delivering regular and continuous updates on category & business performance across the Off Trade, reviewing competitor & market segment performance, supporting internal teams with relevant market data & overseeing the development of an internal reporting suite that empowers fellow Camparistas.

 

We are looking for a dynamic individual with the ability to thrive in an agile and fast-paced environment who has bundles of enthusiasm and an ambition to succeed and help us build our wonderful portfolio of brands. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, have strong analytical skills, and the ability to work with and influence key stakeholders l cross-functional and external.

 

The candidate will , ideally have a background in UK FMCG, category management experience, strong analytical skills, a strategic mindset, and multi-channel experience.

 

The successful candidate will report into the Category & Insights Controller.

 

Key Responsibilities and Activities

 

Deliver continous insight and recommendations through performance monitoring & reporting

 

Build and grow on existing relationships with key Off Trade customers

    • Lead the category agenda for Campari UK with Off Trade customers – ensuring we deliver an impartial category approach, and are seen as trusted advisors
    • Ensure our customers see Campari UK as a thought leader in the trade, driving the spirits industry forward
    • Be the primary point of contact for all Off Trade category insights and market trends
    • Be responsible for the category component of customer planning and make sure Campari customer plans are delivering a category benefit

 

Drive insight on key strategic issues and areas of opportunity

    • Work with key stakeholders to identify key channel issues and opportunities that require more in-depth analysis in partnership with agencies
    • Work with agency partners to deliver annual reviews of key category & channel opportunities
    • Use Nielsen and loyalty card data to support category wide and brand recommendations
    • Act as an integral partner to the commercial, brand, and CCM teams by providing category and customer insights that helps shape strategic decision making
    • Support the Category & Insights Controller with a programme of reviews on the following areas:
      • Category Performance, Segmentation & Trends
      • Brand strategy & performance
      • Competitor analysis
      • Channel and consumer insight reviews
      • Consumer & guest understanding, ranging recommendations, and outlet understanding

 

Support the delivery of SPB & Annual Planning

  • Play a lead role in the annual plannig process by providing commercial, marketing and finance functions with actionable overviews and recommendations for channels, brands & category performance
  • Work in collaboration with commercial team to develop channel plans and selling stories that support core brands/serves
  • Work with finance team to ensure efficient delivery and regular review of market & brand performance
  • Work with the Category & Insights Controller and Finance Director to develop category & channel forecasting that feeds into SPB planning

Experience and Skills

 

Experience:

  • Minimum two years experience in a research/analytical insight role – ideally with FMCG/BWS experience
  • Proven problem solving skills, coupled with structural thinking and strong analytical abilities
  • Good understanding of category management principles
  • Stromg knowledge of the UK FMCG market across the Off Trade
  • Ability to understand, cut-through and combine numerous pieces of data, then use judgement and experience to make effective decisions when there is a lot of uncertainty/ambiguity
  • Ability to analyse complicated information rapidly, identify risks & opportunities and explain complex issues simply. Study the broad picture and pick out key details to be shared – ‘make the complicated simple’
  • Gravitas, confidence and leadership skills to challenge and influence at all levels of the business
  • The ability to work in cross functional teams on both small & large scale projects
  • Compelling communicator - able to utilise a range of styles in both written and verbal; including story telling
  • Personal resilience and able to work under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team

 

Skills:

  • Proficient in excel & market data query systems (Dunnhumby, SIP, etc.) and able to interpret data
  • Strong analytical & reporting skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written presentation skills) with the ability to distil and bring complex data alive
