General Description of the Role
Reporting directly to (solid line) the Head of Global HS and functionally to (dotted line) the Supply Chain VP Americas, the Director Health and Safety, Americas Region is responsible for the overall management of health and safety programs across the region. This role will work closely with Supply Chain country leadership and plant leadership to lead the HS Function in the Americas and facilitate our change from a “reactive” to a “proactive excellence” mode in managing workplace health and safety.
Mission/Objectives
The mission of this role, in strict partnership with the Global HS Team, is to create and deploy global programs to promote safe behaviors and maintain safe and healthy workplaces in compliance with Campari and international standards.
Key Responsibilities and Activities
This position will work closely with internal partners (Regional SC, Manufacturing, Engineering, Environment & Sustainability, HR, Internal Audit, IT, and Legal Functions) to ensure thorough and efficient deployment of HS initiatives while identifying opportunities for improvement and working with stakeholders on implementation. This position will be responsible of leading the regional HS organization. This position will work with site leaders and global head HS to establish performance targets, and initiatives and track progress at site and regional level.
- Develop and improve HS management systems across region to ensure compliance with group guidelines, international HS regulations and recognized standards of excellence
- Ensure systems and tools are implemented in Americas to monitor HS compliance and foster continuous improvement
- Monitor targets to evaluate and improve HS performance in the Americas organization
- Deploy global programs supporting HS performance improvement and behavioral change, specifically but not limited to (i.e., machinery safeguarding, powered industrial vehicle, work at heights, hazardous location, process safety, confined space entry, isolation of hazardous energy-lockout, fire protection, hazardous chemicals, pressure vessels and electrical safety)
- Work with sites and regional FP&A to evaluate capital expense needs to ensure appropriate mid and long-term strategic planning
- Mentor and develop site safety and health leaders and manage regional succession planning
- Along with regional engineering, work with plant leadership to ensure that facility expansions, machinery upgrades and site layout changes are designed and implemented in a safe manner
- Provide guidance and support to Plants in managing HS operations.
- Identify and drive the Americas integration of best practices and lessons learned to improve HS programs
- Manage the company program for certification against HS related international standards as deemed required – ISO 45001
- Lead regional level HS performance reviews
- Assist with the screening and hiring of site HS leaders
- Set the regional and Local HS targets in alignment with the country and plant leadership
- Assist in development of HS Metrics to ensure that accurately reflect the overall HS performance at sites

External: Regulatory Agencies, Professional Societies, NGOs, Universities, Centers of Research and Expertise, Consultants, Industry Associations
Experience & Education
- Minimum 10 years professional experience managing health and safety with a minimum of 5 leading health and safety across multiple operations.
- Minimum 6 years in SC organizations.
- Exposure to regional HSE activities and organizations, particularly in NA and LATAM
- Experience in FMCG; experience in the Spirits/Beverage industry is a strong plus
- Bachelor Degree in Science/Engineering or equivalent with additional professional qualifications in HSE.
Required Skills:
- High level of competence in HS mandatory and voluntary standards
- High level of understanding of current and future HS trends
- Experience with HSE platforms (i.e., Enablon, Sphera)
- Experience and familiarity with reporting tools (i.e. Power BI)
- Strong logical and analytical skills
- Pragmatic approach
