General Description of the Role

 

The Finance Director New Zealand (FD NZ), is responsible for the provision of financial analysis and decision support to the commercial and marketing team, actively assisting in trade promotions, commercial analysis, and new product development.  The FD NZ is also accountable for all financial accounting, tax, audit and statutory reporting aspects of TCL.

The FD NZ is the key business partner for the Managing Director NZ and is a key member of the NZ Leadership Team.

This role is based in Auckland and holds commercial responsibility over all the duty paid spirits markets of New Zealand) as well as statutory and governance responsibility for Campari New Zealand Pty Ltd.

The role is also a member of the extended APAC Finance Leadership Team.

 

Key Activities and Responsbilities

 

  • Responsible for strategic business plan, yearly budget, and monthly forecast and valuation reviews
  • Finance business partner providing the New Zealand teams with relevant and timely commercial insights and guidance, providing financial support to sales and marketing relating to, but not limited to, new product development, trading terms, pricing, revenue growth management, manufacturing cost analysis and new business tenders.
  • Leads all financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
  • Responsible for TCL legal entity financial statements, statutory requirements, tax and audit, as well as monthly close and half yearly and yearly reporting
  • Oversees and reviews accounting tasks, including payroll, taxes, and compliance.
  • With the FP&A team, the FD NZ will be responsible for financial support in:
    • Price realization, pricing changes with excise
    • Customer trading terms and P&L
    • Promotional modelling
    • Channel /pack strategy
    • Market share analysis
    • NPD analysis
  • Compliance and control systems, P/L management, cash flow planning, A&P budget controlling etc.
  • People management and development, including career and succession planning.
  • Internal stakeholder management to complete all financial and management reports and budgeting activities and liaising with external stakeholder such as the external auditors on annual audits.
  • Oversee credit management for TCL, DP and DF customers.
  • Adhoc projects as required.

Experience, Education & Skills

 

  • Minimum 10+ years of rounded Finance experience (including both Financial Planning & Analysis and Auditing/Accounting experience within multinational manufacturing companies) and consumer goods industries preferred, with prior alcoholic beverages experience an advantage;
  • Degree in Accounting/Economics/Business Administration with CPA or equivalent membership mandatory;
  • Strong demonstrated leadership across teams and key stakeholders in cross-cultural and matrix environments;
  • Deep knowledge of international accounting principles, IFRS preferred, financial statements and statutory requirements;
  • Strong SAP knowledge and working knowledge of Power BI a strong advantage;
  • Proven experience in working on challenging projects and delivering excellent results to deadlines;
  • Track record of being adaptable, flexible and pragmatic with a customer and results-oriented view;
  • Proven analytical thinker with ability to work across functions, carry out data analysis, identify trends and develop commercial options to reach solutions;
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proven skills in planning and reporting techniques and methods, incl. KPIs management
  • Deep economic and financial knowledge especially FMCG business processes, P&L structure, commercial promotions, and A&P expenditures

 

Additional Requirements:

 

  • Available to travel 10%-15% of the time but may vary with projects.
  • Available to participate in ad-hoc evening calls with the group function.
