General Description of the Role

As the Assistant Brand Manager, you will drive the performance of the brands within the Dark Spirits portfolio such as Appleton Estate, Coruba and Wild Turkey as well as supporting across the wider brand team. You will work closely with and support the Senior Brand Managers, playing a key support role with brand ownership and in the development and execution of the Annual Brand Plans achieving brand objectives (volume, share, CAAP and consumer KPIs including brand purchase funnel) and managing Budgets, A&P payments and payment processes.

 

Key Responsibilities and Activities

Execution

  • Implementation of the Coruba, Wild Turkey and broader Dark Spirits portfolio brand plans alongside the Senior Brand Manager.
  • Accountable to deliver the Coruba, Wild Turkey and broader Dark Sprits portfolio’s day to day operational activities including monitoring the portfolio performance on a regular basis. 
  • Co-lead with the Senior Brand Manager a collaborative partnership with internal and external stakeholders to ensure key priorities are delivered.
  • A&P budget management for Coruba, Wild Turkey and broader Dark Spirits and the wider portfolio as required including budget reconcilations, Purchase Order / Good Receipting and payment of invoice – Purchase to Pay process and monthly and adhoc tracking and reporting
  • Support and assist manageent and work through New Product Development (NPD) gate process 
  • Action any adhoc key projects as requested by the Senior Brand Manager 
  • Assist in the development and implementation of brand and marketing activities such as:
    • Develop best in class digital programs and lead the executions
    • Develop Point of Sale (POS) material and ensure POS systems are in place  o Co-ordination of advertising, PR and Customer and Channel marketing promotional activities
    • Sales and market analysis
    • General marketing administrative duties 

Insights

  • Keep abreast of sales figures for the Coruba, Wild Turkey and broader Dark Spirits portfolio and any promotional activity for the brands
  • Conduct regular trade visits to ensure execution on shelf, plannograms, pricing and visbility of brand
  • Developing to become a brand expert – brand, consumer, category and competitor performance analysis and recommendations

 

Key Relationships

Internal:

  • The Assistant Brand Manager reports to the Senior Brand Manager Dark Spirits but a lsoe relationship with the wider Brand team
  • Customer and Channel Marketing team (CCM)
  • Category, Finance, Sales Key Accounts and Customer Services team

 

External:                                 

  • Creative, media, PR and social agencies and POS handlings supplier

 

Experience Required

  • 1 - 2 years marketing experience, as a Marketing Assistant or Assistant Brand Manager
  • New Zealand market experience 
  • SAP experience (preferred)
  • Liquor industry, FMCG or agency side experience preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced level of  Microsoft suite (Outlook, Excel, Word and Powerpoint)
  • Degree qualified in Business or Commerce, or equivalent is preferred
  • Proven experience in marketing and brand management
  • Demonstrated ability in managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines
